Welcome to The Red Lion, Hollington, Derbyshire, a traditional warm and friendly Derbyshire village Inn, that boosts not only a fantastic selection of beers and wines but also a stunning restaurant serving fresh local produce 7 days a week.
We are pleased to announce the opening of our recently refurbished restaurant, offering a contemporary and relaxed dining area. Our beer garden is a great place to relax in the summer and an open fire offers a cosy welcome during the winter months.
Our traditional inn has seating for diners in the bar or if you prefer, a lovely restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that can be booked for larger parties or private functions.
Rather than trying to describe our extensive range of fresh food and speciality pies, we will let one of our customers who recently posted the article below on Tripadvisor tell you…:
First peruse the Pie Board and choose what pie filling, then type of mash or chips, then what pea's/bean's and finally choose the gravy, then sit back and have a drink and enjoy your meal, it is great. If you do not fancy a pie then browse the menu, but be warned the pie's are so good. A warm welcome
We are set in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, yet only 15 minutes from Derby City and the historic town of Ashbourne. We are a traditional country pub, with a love of the Great British Pint, Fine Wines and an excellent choice of food to satisfy all tastes and budgets
We walked to this pub from a local holiday let and found it to be a perfect addition to our weekend away. All the staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us (even booking the same table for us next to the log burner for our second visit). The choice of food is excellent - both nights we chose from the menu but if we had been there one more night we would definitely have ordered pies - the choice of pies and side dishes look absolutely delicious! - Kazway Via Tripadvisor

We stopped here with friends after we had been walking in the area. It really is a lovely little pub. The landlord was welcoming and we had a lovely pint of Doom Bar in the well tended pub garden whilst looking the menu. We all opted for the pie option. The wait for the food to arrive was about half an hour but this only reinforced that the food was cooked fresh and when the food arrived this was clearly the case. Two of our group enjoyed steak and ale, one chicken and chorizo and the other steak and Stilton. All the meals were served with chips and peas and onion or normal gravy. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The quality was excellent. A good find! Nice staff too.
My wife and I both had the Steak and Stilton pie, which came on a bed of mashed potato, with mushy peas and onion gravy. There was plenty of pies and accompaniments to choose from, off the pie board. I can only describe it as a quaint village pub that had a lovely roaring fire to make you feel nice and welcome. We will make an effort to visit again, next time in the evening so we can sample a few more of their ales. .
This is a quaint little pub in derbyshire ,near to ashbourne, it specialises in PIES, the choice of pies is large, we had steak & ale, looked & tasted home made, about 8 types of mashed potatoes , inc homemade chips, homemade mushy peas, were lovely, different types of gravy available, friendly staff, & a really nice meal . recommended.
